Default #4...!!!!!

Today was a perfect day to save this beauty from the crusher. It has the original muffler, heat shield, 13 fin 16hp engine, hour meter, lights, ported hydro, manual lift...it has been sitting for a few years, but has a lot of good parts. #523142...12 serial #s older than my #3 169.

Now...for a few pictures!

This guy didnt really care about much...after I paid for it, I of course told him that they were the 2nd rarest Cub ever built...he said if I didnt get this tractor in the next couple weeks, he was taking it to scrap. Ive heard that song and dance about 15 times already...they say that just so they get their money faster. typical scalper.

This one and #3 must have come on the same truck or railcar that came to Iowa in '74. #3 was Originally purchased in Jewell Ia, this one came from Ft. Dodge area...so thats only about 30 miles apart roughly...it is a pretty neat deal that it ended up that way.

Ryan,
Nice find on the 169! Quite a collection of 169's. Atleast this one has the hard to find parts. If you've got a good sheetmetal guy, you can use the heat shield as a pattern to make a couple more for your other 169's. I can't believe that someone isn't remaking those mufflers yet. Is it a runner? Congrats, you're on a roll. Only 4,001 to go......................................

Josh,

I know a few people that could make those. Ive got three original heat shields, so I think Ill be alright. Yes, this one has most of the original parts on it. It isnt a runner YET...pretty sad that Ive got 4 and only one runs. Now I think I have enough parts I can get some of these other ones cobbled together and have a few nice ones. I won't have 4 forever...hopefully by next week Ill have some parts to sell.

Nice score on another 169. If you are going to part some of it out, I am still looking for a side panel with the hour meter in it. Don't care if the meter works, but just looking for the panel. Let me know if you are interested or if you are going to rescue this one also and make another runner.
Thanks
Rod

You'd have a lot better luck finding a plain one and drilling a hole in it. Ive only got three...thats how many I plan on keeping at this point

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
