Default Need advise for Kohler SV600 crankcase.

Hello,

My crankcase had a crack, so I bought a used one. All numbers match on both cases. There is one issue that I found, and I've searched online for a fix, but came up with nothing. On my cracked case....on the bottom left hand side there is a pin which had an arm that hooks to the bottom of the balancer. The case that I bought has no pin. I can't figure out how to remove that pin and transfer it to the new case. If it's part of the case cast...what do I do about attaching that arm? Like I said all numbers match on both cases. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

First,
you don't say what you are working on.
So go to the top of the page where it says "cub cadet parts and service look up"
and fill in the info they ask for.
Then look in the engine section where the crankcase is and see if they list the hollow dowel pin yer salvage engine is missing.
Also it is possible the salvage engine model you got didn't require balance gears, or it was used in a horizontal or vertical if they do that with that engine,so it didn't get the pin??
It is advisable that you look to see if it is a finished hole or just a place for a casting core pin, and didn't get the finishing operation.
That would require you to drill a precision hole on the mill for the new locating pin, and press it in, as it is going to be a tight fit or it would fall out during operation, and cause catastrophic damage to the innerds of the engine.

Thanks Roland, that helps
It shows up on parts blowup but no reference to a number, guessing it comes with the block.
That said,
if it were mine, and it appears the hole is drilled and not a cast hole,I would carefully weaken the boss with a cut off wheel in the junk block and split it revealing the hollow dowel pin, then press it in the replacement block.
I'm assuming the seller of the replacement block used/new?? is not going to refund your $$$$---------- they should if it is not usable as sold, but we don't know the circumstances of your purchase.
I would be careful as not to crush the hollow dowel with say vice grips or something similar as it appears to be a critical fit

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
