New use for Cub Cadets
Yesterday, I spent the day at my Daughter's place. Yard work was the agenda for the day. Trimming bushes, cutting out brush, and cutting up some tree limbs. She lives out the the "country" so she had the ability to establish & use a "burn pile", of which we did. I was in charge of the cutting, and she was on the Cub Cadet tractor with a trailer, hauling the debris to the burn pile. The fire was started. Now comes the interesting part. Once the fire was started, it need a little assistance as far as some extra air (fanning the flame). Seem that pointing the Mower Deck discharge chute towards the fire and turning the deck on adds a lot of air. The fire picked right up......
The burn pile consumed all that was piled on, thanks to the Cub Cadet and some thought on the part of my daughter. Yesterday, I found a new use for our Cubs.

That is because your just a kid, ---I envy you
My first use of a lawnmower as a "wind machine" was prolly in early 1960's maybe late 50's You can turn a 55 gal drum burn barrel into a red hot incinerator. A leaf blower can also turn a burn barrel into fire cyclone, burning wet leaves/green branches ,near instantly. Caution: burned hair/paint on machine is not purdy. |

Old or new, tried and true, it worked!!! Thanks for sharing that newly found use for the cub cadet. Anyone using that, as usual, should practice good, sound safety when applying this technique by making sure lit debris does not blow into other brush or structures, igniting something that you do not want ignited. Thanks for sharing a useful tip for these machines Roland!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
