Default 1872 carb help

Since I'm not having any luck finding a adjustable carb for my 1872 I did a little digging and heard that a #26 Kohler carb works well on them? Are the theottle shaft and choke shaft a direct fit from the factory walbro? I havent got a chance to try it yet and I've never attempted to go fron walbro to Kohler with parts.

I already tried the cheapie China Ebay carbs...and that's a big no go. Dont like it one bit.

I also purchased a carb online that was said to be the factory carb. With pictures of the correct carb included but the seller did the old bait and switch on me and sent the wrong one and wont respond to messages...

I'm just over the hunt and ready to make it work

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Sorry I'm still not able to upload pictures to this forum with my phone or I would have some pictures of it.

Sorry for your bad luck with carbs.
If you bought a carb from ebay, just get with them and they will arrange a return/refund.
I've never had them not take care of me in the few instances I've involved them.
You best bet is with an early adjustable carb from the KT 17-18 series, if you didn't know.
While I prefer an adj Carter/Kohler any day, if you get a good running walbro, they will do the job.

Some have had good luck with off shore carbs, I didn't
I got one for a homelite leaf blower, while it worked ok, the adjustments did little.
So I put a kit in my original carb and was very pleased.
With warm weather arriving, there should be someone out there with a good
used one available for you.

I believe you would have to find a Kohler carb from a twin to make it work. I’m sure the choke arm is different from say a Quietline and can’t remember about the throttle shaft. We put a 30 carb on my sons 782 and it really bellers when the tiller hits the soil, really cool to hear. Not sure what you plan to do with your 1872 but that may be an option.I’m with you too on the China carb as in I will stay away at all costs

As far as Ebay is thats taken care of. No worries there.

And yeah. If I can FIND. Good used adjustable I would. Already wasted enough time trying this one or that one. That's why I'm trying to confirm the #26 thing before I tear into it. I've got 6 or 7 of those floating around. Tired of messin around just wanna get it done and over with so I can move it out of the shop...

It was 10 bucks lol. The gaskets and needle seat are worth that to use.

And yeah the shafts stock to stock are different.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
