The driveshaft would need to be disconnected normally but as loose as your coupler is I would think it would just come apart there unless it's hanging up on the broken pin inside. You might as well disconnect it at the engine end, as worn as that coupler is you probably need other parts to bring the whole driveshaft up to par.

Tim, the hydros have a rag joint but the gear drives do not.

After looking at the video, you sheared the spirol pin ( as other folks mentioned ).
The rear coupler looks worn too. There is a center hole for the pin on the driveshaft. I make replacement driveline parts. My rear coupler is longer and has two set screws to help reduce play. I can also make a new driveshaft and a drive hub to bolt onto the engine. Jeff |

Beside the linkage, I think the brush bar underneath should be removed....I'm not sure of it needs to be removed, but I always do. Just two bolts there. I got a project this weekend or next to replace the cork gasket on my 125.

I checked the driveshaft connection at the motor and that is lined up so it can be pulled out and doesn't seem to be holding anything up. I actually found the old roll pin while dissembling it, so I don't think that is holding it up.
I removed the seat and fenders Removed the 6 bolts on the side that go through the frame disconnected the linkage to the forward/reverse lever disconnected the brake pin. Something still seems to be holding it up, the rear end will rotate a little and move in and out a little, but gets held up from pulling it all the way out. Maybe I'll remove the brush guard as I guess something could be catching there. Any trick to jacking any certain part up to make it slide out easily? I have the front supported with a jack at the lift handle bar as the service manual says. Tried lifting that up and down some and didn't seem to help. |

Would it be easier if you disconnected the rag joint so that the rear end assembly is no longer connected to the driveshaft . Perhaps she could get that out-of-the-way and then work on separating the coupler .

Yes, figured it out pretty quickly when I looked again today. I had disconnected the wrong thing when I though I was disconnecting the brake rod. Disconnected the correct thing and it slid right apart.
Cleaned everything up and I am going to wait until I get a new coupler guibo before putting it back together. |
