Absolutely! Your wife would be thrilled that you were thinking of her too! There were also two wide frame models that had an eight horse Kohler K181 engine as well.
There are some very, very nice '61-'63 Originals shared by some of our members. Even the Originals in their work clothes scream "old school" ! I'm a serious fan of them all up until about '97, or so. Enjoy the forums, and best of luck,......... we're all pulling for ya! |

Where at in new York are you? I'm heading to Niagara in November so if you start making payments now I can deliver you one while I'm up there.

I have an 8-HP Cub, the Quiet Line model 800. There is just SOMETHING about using one of the old IH made Cubs...a lot of the members here call it "seat time".
Mrs. Cubby asked me a while back about why I used my tractor on our postage stamp size yard. {something about I could mow it and be done with the push mower before I could even get the Cub Cadet out of the storage building and get rolling} My reply "Honey Bunch, if you ever use a Cub Cadet just ONCE, no explanation would be required. If you don't, no reasons will be satisfactory." I thought her eyes were gonna spin out of the sockets........

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
