Cub Cadet 122 Diesel Swap
I have been doing alot of research on swapping engines on a cub with the shaft drive. I found a thread on another site which shows how another tractor build similar to a IH cub 122 was converted using this engine. http://concreteliftingusa.com/DEK.HTML
He had to come off the fly wheel and remove the back up coil pulley wheel in order to turn the shaft the proper direction. Just wondering if anyone on here has every tried this or with a motor similar to this? Of any comments on potential problems i will have are appreciated. I love diesel engines and prefer them over gas and I am going to get one of these engines and attempt to make my 122 a diesel powered tractor. I have the measurments fro the diesel tractor so now I am going have to see how close I will come on lining up the shaft with the flywheel off the engine. can you send me the link your talking about, I'm building a "high crop" cub cadet, and have the diesel engine already, that might be the way I go!

Thats what my Dad calls it, I'm taking a 682, lengthing it 24 inches and adding the bull gears/axles from a farmall cub, I'm also putting a farmall cub front axle under it, It will be the same size and height as a farmall cub, but will have 682 sheet metal and a hydro trans.

not trying to discourage you because im doing something similar, you know that will be kind of slow. the cub finals are a 6.8 or so reduction.

I'm not out to win any races, I just wanted to do something differant, its basicly to take to tractor shows with my Dad!

Hope you don't plan on driving it much at all... Assuming you keep the CC tires, your maximum speed will be just over 1 mph...

No I plan on using the farmall cub Ag tires and wheels/wheel weights, that should set it much higher than using the CC wheels/tires and give me a little more ground speed. The plan is to make it the same size (height/length) as a standard farmall cub, but with a cub cadet sheet metal and engine!
