I had trouble making a decision to paint one red, too. I'm such a traditional cub fan. But after seeing so many others turn out great, I made the decision to go for it. Currently have a 148R under construction in the customized cub forum. I think it's just fun to do.

Z71DEVILDOG,

I say GO FOR IT!!! I actually have got nothing but stares and people asking me all the time....where did you get that! THAT'S COOL! Trust me, no one will make fun of you...if anything they will admire your creativity. Ive done 2 now and thanks to SAWDUSTDAD, i think over this winter i may do a custom 149 to a 1066 IH. Plus it makes doing yard work a whole lot of fun!!

Yes the 147R gets lots of folks to take a second look and most ask if they made some red. I have had a good time with mine. Come on in joint the IH red cub club I will try to find the customized cub forum.
Regards,
Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
