Default K301 Getting Red hot

I have a cub cadet 122 with a k301 in it, the motor is getting super hot, the fuel in the tank is boiling. I have no Idea where to start with this issue any help would be appreciated.

Pull the engine and take the tins off.
Clean the motor.
Pull the head gasket and decarbon the head and combustion chamber.
Plane the head.
Install new head gasket.
Adjust the valves.
File the points and set the timing. (Do not just gap the points.... SET THE TIMING.)
Clean or install a new spark plug.
Check ignition coil terminal and plug wire for corrosion.
Clean or replace as necessary.
Clean fuel system, including the inside of the (removed) carb.
Reinstall the carb and tune it. DO NOT just use the preliminary settings as stated by the book. Set it to those specs, then tune as needed.

Should fix you right up. Unless you find out the motor is shot once you get the head off....

Default R ed hot cub

Be sure that it dosen't have a aluminium breaker plunger rod make sure that it is steel, i had that problem years ago,kohler brought that to my attention replaced that and problem was solved.

Lots of aluminum ones out there still. Not that big a deal.

My experience with run hot air cooled engines are 1) blocked air flow 2) late timing. All those steps will cover you well.
