It will float up/down ok but it will tend to not trail behind straight if the tongue is too short,
it you find you don't like the angle of the disk's throwing the soil to the outside, I think you might be able to reverse them to throw the soil to the center just by swapping the gangs side to side.
It might work ok as it is, because you are going to make multiple tillage passes.

------I saw your build in progress, but didn't follow it, sorry.

It's more for chopping up flattened buckwheat and winter rye. I'll hopefully have the tiller for soil prep. Maybe running over dandelions because I hate them and the bears love them and I really dislike the bears.

The extended tongue with ball coupler is mostly if buddies with quads want to borrow it.

You no screw with my wimin-tools I no screw with your face.
how many "friends"
helped you build the disk?
Yep, hold my beer and watch how fast this disk rips up the soil with my quad

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
