Default Impulse buy

Good evening, I've been searching around my area for an older cub cadet. Finally found one. It's a model 149, it has seen better years but it runs. I was able to run it up the trailer and get it home. Took a little patience with the hydro lever on dash.
My plans are to get it mechanically sound over the winter. Future goal is a snow blower or plow.

Good impulses.... Looks like the hood was salvaged from a 129. Red, white and blue!

I got it for $300. The owner said it was a salvaged hood. He went over some issues it had. Nothing that can't be fixed. One is the axle release lever is gone. So that's a priority for me. It has 14hp original motor, run well, did back fire on shut down. The generator showed output, and steered fine
Figure tires all the way around. No noticable leaks at trans, tho I doubt brakes are working.

I will need to find a diagram showing how the deck and hardware on the front mount up. Seems like something is off, deck does work, blades and lift, no bad noises.

Will keep updates posted

I would say $300 for a 149 is a solid score

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
