782/1811 front bumpers
I just finished adding bumpers to both of my Cubs that serve mower duty. The bumper on the 1811 is an original Cyclops part number 190-398-100 bumper. The one on my 782 is a 2000 series bumper part number 190-298-100 modified with brackets made by me to duplicate the much more expensive and harder to find bumper.

Good job!
It appears from the photos that the (2) round tubes that run from the bumper to the brackets are welded onto the brackets, but the first pic of the brackets look like they're attached with a bolt/nut to a flange. Is the bumper welded to the brackets or bolted? |

The bumper is welded to the tubes, and to the brackets. The only bolts involved are the bumper brackets to tractor frame, which are 1/2"-13 x 1.5" long with a lock washer-one per side.

What I started out with. I loped off the two frame brackets, and ground old welds on the bumper smooth..

For my 2182 (biggest concern, plastics) I scored a NOS in box MTD 190-672-190 or OEM-190-672 SR for $50, which while having different brackets, is spaced right to bolt on. Might have to trim some bracket back for other functionality.

Thanks for posting the part number of the newer bumper. Looks like a great alternative.

Like you, I appreciate this kept the original look with 2 bars/pipes instead of a single one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
