Cub Cadet Original Rear End Lift Capacity?
Hi all,
Just wondering what the lift capacity of an original is before the axles snap or something worse. Not looking to stress my original, however, I still use mine for work and it lifts up and down heavy implements. What would you suggest the recommended weight capacity should end at? Edit: I'm so sorry, didn't realize I posted this to the welcome page |

I know that the originals don't have a 3pt, but in general cat0 3pt is 500lbs max. The final drives on the IH designed cub cadets are so overbuilt that you would flip the tractor or break the hitch before you break the axle.

IIRR the originals had bushings at the axle ends, not bearings, so excess weight will just wear them quicker
"Heavy implements" has no defined weight. "Heavy" as compared to what? If you use common sense, no damage will occur. Some liquid fill their tires as well as add wheel weights, but that adds no weight being carried on the frame/axle, but if hung on the rear housing in any fashion then it is carried on the axle. |

Might have been an optional accessory. Parts for three point hitch and draw bar are listed in the "Cub Cadet Parts and Service Look-up" link above.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
