Default Build Date for a 2135

Can one of you tell me when this 2135 was built? This is the only tag on it.

According to Cub Cadet, that model does NOT exist. The Cub Cadet Condensed Model Guide, lists it at 1999.

Odd situation.

Looked in the 1960-1999 Condensed Guide, and says the following:

2135 ... 324,501 - H318G3 ... 95-98 ... 12.5 Kohler ... CH12.5S-22508

Based on this, it looks like a 1996 model.

Yep if you put in the model # it says doesn't exist but if you put in 2135 you get this. Thanks for your help.

Yup, ‘96. I have two. A ‘94 and a ‘95. Third digit denotes year of production.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
