Destroyed exhaust threads
I'm trading the 1250 for a nicer 1250. He wants my 1250 to come with everything, including the muffler parts. I don't know what to do with the elbow, as the threads in the block are f***ed beyond repair. They're so wallered out from the old exhaust, that the elbow only has about 3 lines of threads to grab onto. How would I go about fixing it?

If they are that destroyed and there is no saving them.. Jam it in and weld it

A picture is worth a thousand words. Let us see exactly what you are talking about.

I apparently don't have any, but it looks like someone stuck a larger pipe in the hole and really torqued it in, the threads are about a cm larger around the end.

Get a tap and clean them out and maybe add a few more on the inner surface.
I have salvaged several that way. It's just a pipe thread. Have you got the elbow/pipe out of it? |

I have cleaned up a few exhaust ports, but the procedure may not be applicable to yours. Can't tell, NO pictures.

Some of the blocks came with holes already drilled and taped for stud mounted exhaust flange. See post #184 in my thread ''What a rag' for a picture. If you have this on your block, Fab your own exhaust like the pullers do.

I do have the elbow but it feels a bit loose in the hole even when fully screwed in. I don't have a muffler right now to test if it seals but it seems to seal with the old muffler screwed in.
The elbow came off another 1250 and the whole thing was a rust bucket, almost every bolt was broke in one way or another, so there is really no way to tell how hard it was to get out. If it was anything like the k321 motor we have it's probably close to snapping off in the block. |

Yeah. I'll need it for when I eventually have to remove the snapped elbow out of the k321 block.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
