Default Can I bug you with a quick question ?

I just acquired a model 1872.

Here is my question:

What is this thing, in regards to the forums ?

By this I mean , is it this ? IH Cub Cadet Tractors (GT) (23 Viewing)
General talk area for International Harvester Cub Cadet Garden Tractors!

Or is it this ? CCC/MTD Cub Cadet built Tractors (GT) (25 Viewing)
General talk area for CCC/MTD built Cub Cadet Garden Tractors!!

Or this ? Cub Cadet Lawn Tractor (LT) (7 Viewing)
General talk Forum for Lawn Tractors

Thanks much !
A preview of my next question .... How to I know what attachments will fit it , specifically a front blade ?

Your 1872 was built between 1987 and 1989. That would make it built by Cab cadet as part of MTD. So your posts about that would be in the
CCC/MTD Cub Cadet built Tractors (GT) threads.

Welcome BTW!

Here is a link to your tractor on parts tree. At the bottom of the page they list the attachments that were available when new.

''It is a wide frame, actually a "spread frame" as it is spread out for the width of the twin engine in front.

Welcome to OCC...........

In addition to the above, the 1872 is considered a Super Garden Tractor (SGT).

Welcome! 1872 is a great machine. Some folks are IH purists, but MTD made great tractors for a long time after they picked up the Cub Cadet brand in 1981.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
