Convert QA-36 thrower to QA-36A
Hi,
Has anyone converted a qa-36 thrower to qa-36a? From what I’ve been able to see in photos and exploded parts diagrams, it looks like the primary difference is the quick attach yoke is adjustable on the A. My father in law gave me a qa-36, but I have a 1650 wide frame. I was thinking that it doesn’t look like it would be too bad to cut the yoke and make a plate, so that it basically is a qa-36a. If anyone has done it, and has advice or prints, I would be glad for the help. Thanks, Andy |

Yes, that can be done.
The difference between a standard and the "A" versions, is that the Quick Attach (QA) "A" version is adjustable for both NF and WF tractors. You can cut, adapt, and weld up a standard version, and make it a permanent WF application with no problems. I have seen it done before.

If you look up the attach for the qa36a in parts tree, one of the sponsors or ebay might have the yokes. Thats the only difference.
You could even buy the entire qa36a mule and bolt/repin the thrower to it.

Thank you! If anyone had one apart and had dimensions for that plate, I'd appreciate a copy. Even a good straight on photo would be interesting.
Thanks, Andy |

There is NO instruction(s) on how to do this. It is all field fabricated to each designers/fabricator's mindset.
Then, one can always look for the proper front Bracket and not worry about the fabricating part.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
