Default 2518 ignition switch wiring diagram and plug

Can anyone point me toward the diagram for the ignition switch? I can post a pic of the plug if that helps. I've been having problems with the ignition switches I use (2 Oregons), they all break . Is there a better alternative ? I'd consider 2 separate on/off switches and ignition momentary switch if it'd hold up better.

Here is the 925-3163 Ignition Switch. The colors & connections are correct for the 2518.

I am confused as to how running two aftermarket switches are better than one correct OEM Switch.

I can only think he means he has tried 2 different switches separately, and they failed.
But that is an assumption----
and we all know about ASS out of you and me
Wonder what "broke"

Thanks for the wiring diagram. I don't really know what happened, smoke started coming out of the switch and the plug was all melted. Original one failed due to water infiltration. The second one's key broke off inside it.

Ignition Switches do go bad occasionally. Is this tractor kept outside...???

Thank you for the clarification,
Typically the cheap plating on spades due to enviro rules cause early demise, even worse if left outside or exposed to water from washing, etc. as mentioned.
I'll bet the corroded spade was the lead to the battery, as is typical.
I would suggest you replace the plug assy, they are inexpensive on evil pay,
IIRR six maybe $10.
And get a new switch of your choosing.
That should get you many years service, especially if you use dialectic grease paying attention to the female connectors in the plug.
Even just chassis grease is better than nothing.
Now as far as the broken off key, sometimes ones fat #14 shoe connects with the fragile key entering/exiting the tractor seat in an mad dash for the commode in a dire situation
BTDT Ha,LOL
Actually, sometimes a small tweezers or needle nose pliers will extract a broken off key.
Keep us in the loop, happy fixin'

Thanks for your help.. with the diagram I was able to get back up and running. And yes it was stored outside for a time , now it has a heated garage LOL

I ended up doing 2 switches ("run" on/off and magneto ground on/off) and a push-to-start and it is a pretty clean look and I think they will last a long time. They also have weather covers over the buttons.

Aw, a "custom" setup, to each his own, @ least you know what is needed if one ever wanted to return to"as built".
What upsets me is aftermarket suppliers that sell an Ign switch that "cross references" to multiple numbers but the switches are wired differently or lack a position like subbing a 3 position switch where a 4 position one is needed.
It is confusing to a person that is knowledgeable, much less to a person that
is not familiar with schematics.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
