Default 149 Governor Question

So I finally got the 149 to run... The new Amazon Carb works.. Now I have to figure out Throttle and Choke Cables... But...

My biggest question at the moment is in regard to the Governor Arm.. I cant reuse the factory on its frozen solid... Ive tried Croil, PB Blaster and Ultrasonic Cleaner.... So... The new carb came with a new governor arm... It was to long so I cut it shorter... Now with the new arm there is no play in the governor arm.... IS there supposed to be a small amount?

Thank you

Based I your photo... The part I was calling the Governor Arm was incorrect. The rod I am speaking of connects the Governor Arm in the photo to the Throttle on the Carburetor... Sorry

Also is there supposed to be a bit of play on the Governor Arm connection to the throttle on the carb?

Thanks for your help

Does it run fine? When a load is applied the arm will move. Also be sure to check the max rpm, 3600 rpm. There is good info in the service manual located here...

There is a spec for the length of that arm in the service manual from the center of the ball to the center of the rod at the bend, adjustable so that when the carb is at WOT the governor should be properly adjusted per the instructions in the manual.

I think the AMAZON Carb the choke is a "push to close Choke' not like the factory "Pull to Close Choke" is there an easy way to fix this?

Yes, obtain the correct carb or rebuild the one that was originally on the tractor.
It should be a Carter #30

Ok... Still figuring out the Throttle and Choke Cables. I have the Choke figured out I think.... Im replacing the entire cable and housing.

For the throttle, I just need to replace the cable, want to try and keep the original housing. But I cant find a photo of the Throttle Lever from the side where the inner cable connects with the Z Bend. Anyone got such a photo?

Im hoping I can just slide a new cable in the housing and put a Z Bend on the Throttle Lever end without removing the Throttle Lever itself from the dash?

Thanks again for all the help... Getting closer!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
