Default Points oxidized

105 points are oxidizing . Starts, restarts and runs well during a day of work. Let it sit for more than a day, and the points have to be cleaned before it will spark. No sign of oil leaking past the points push rod. Points and condenser are factory, and were new last fall. Cleaned and retightened the points and the Condenser to the block. Stumped. Symptom started this spring after sitting for a month, and has continued until now. This is primarily a snow duty tractor, and is not used much For the rest of the year. Thanks, Steve

The points may have been coated to help prevent arcing. If that's the case, you may have abraded off that coating exposing raw metal that corrodes easily.

Also, the condenser may be bad....or not properly installed.

The points cover with gasket is also important.

I know you say you got new points and everything.
.. but I'd replace them again. I'm wary of where buy my stuff... A lotta china counterfeit coming across the waters! Tons of that crap from eBay and Amazon.

Default Points oxidizing

Thanks ! New points & condenser it is, and double check the connections. Don’t want to go through this cleaning ritual when it’s snowing. PS ; the points and condenser came in sealed Kohler bags, but now I’m suspicious.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
