Default How much more speed?

Can I get out of my Original if I add the chrome hood ornament?!

I was working on the clutch/brake adjustment today, and noticed I have holes in the front of the hood, but nothing there. Hmmm, I ordered a few parts from a vendor, and there was a scruffy hood ornament for sale for $50. Gulp. I passed.

Now, if someone wants to donate one --- I will not abuse it, much.

Oddly enough, the original with a 7 hp engine (underrated) had a top speed in 1961 of 8.5 mph and my 2008 zero turn with 23 hp engine has a top speed of 8.5 mph. Of course these are stock speeds with no mods.

I'm going to try to find one of those massive ones from the 30s off a Packard, or Lincoln, or Peerless. Something gaudy, and offensive. That's the plan.

How about one of these? I have thought about putting it on one of my tractors, but don’t really want to drill any holes.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
