Default Cub Cadet 149 with 44" deck

Good morning friends.

My friend just bought an old cub 149 that needs a little work. It runs and mows pretty well, but it needs a new pto to deck belt. The deck model # is IH 44-U1112. I believe the belt needed is IH-59971-C1. If this is not the correct belt please give me the correct belt #. I got this # from the "BELTS" chart on this forum. Also, my NAPA store can not cross reference this belt #. Any one have the NAPA belt # or a gates or some other manuf. #?
All help appreciated. Thanks and have a great day.
Bob

While I don't have a cross reference number for you, for several years I've bought belts for my Cub Cadets on eBay from a vendor 'offroadbelts' who sells them in a D&D Power Drive package. The belts seem to be good quality and last several years. So in eBay do a search for '59971C1 belt' and you will find it for about $10 delivered.

Did they use the complete part number IH-59971-C1?
Try the one of the sponsors shown above, or any Cub dealer can order that for you above.

Default 44" mule drive belt

Thanks Roy. Will try the ebay search. Finsruskw, NAPA used the full number as you listed and could find nothing. Tried Cub Cadet parts with full number and it came up with nothing. Thanks for looking and your help. Have a great day.

Default 44" CC belt

Finsruskw, I tried it again and it came up nothing found. I must be doing something wrong. I was looking on Cub Cadet parts and service add at top of home page. Two boxes, one says model, other says part #. I typed the # in the part # box. Thanks for your help and have a great day.

Default 149 belts

Thanks Darkminon. Did click the cub cadet box and instead of typing in the part # I went to garden tractors, then 149 and I was able to locate the belt. Thanks for all the help and have a great day.

Default 44" deck belt

I am sure the tag on the deck was 44 U-1112. My 38" deck is #38 U-1111 and my 42" deck is 421 U-1113. These decks are confusing to me when trying to order belts. One does not want to order the wrong belt. Thanks all for helping and have a great day.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
