pretty close to being the same
I put a tape measure on the d600 and the d722 and they are almost the exact same dimensions. They are both mounted in tractors so it was a little difficult to get a good measurement, but the blocks front to back are the same, and the exhaust ports appear to be the same. both of mine have the same harmonic balancer bolt pattern. There are a few brackets and casting differences. The valve cover is a little different, but my d722 is a 2004 model year and the d600 is in a 1512. I could not measure where the engine cradles bolt on but even if those bolt patterns are not exact a drill could fix that. I would say for the money that d722 is a good deal. I can't wait for mine to be done because i feel a turbocharged d722 in a 982 will be fun. Good luck with the project.

Thanks guys! I'll probably get it and that is good to know it is about the same size. I have a 640 out of a 1772 I got from Sam so I hope I can copy the engine cradle and use it in the 982. I've been thinking about adding a turbo to a diesel for sometime now but I know it's kind of a waste but I think it would be pretty cool.

I agree with Josh and Sam, Todd. Anything under $800 is a pretty good deal. I don't like to pay much for non-runners either for the same reasons. They can get expensive to fix quick. For the record; I've overhauled far more Yanmars than Kubotas. They really are good engines. Let us know how you fair! (As if you wouldn't. ) |

I'm keeping my eyes open for the 722T, the turbo/ manifold looks like it would fit perfect in an 82 series, I'm trying to find part numbers for the manifold and turbo, but haven't had much luck.

Finally checked my newer Kubota B3300. It's a four cylinder rated at 33 horsepower. It has a V1505-ES-D24H according to the manual. Hard to measure with a loader and side panels in the way. So kinda eyeballed it at roughly 15 inches, not including the timing gear cover. The D600 in the 1572 was, once again roughly 10 inches. So 5 inch difference between these 3 and 4 cylinders. I'm gonna have to research around and learn some more about these Kubotas not in cubs, especially the larger three cylinders.
Todd, Any new news about the possible purchase?

I'm going tomorrow to look at it. If it looks okay and has all the stuff he says it has, it will probably come home with me.

Welll, I got it. Got it home and tried to start it. It has a mechanical fuel pump that I don't think works, rusty water in the fuel lines and the freaking injectors were loose. I put new fuel lines on it, borrowed an electric pump off of another machine and hooked up all the electrical stuff needed....no go. I know you're not supposed to touch the injectors but they were loose so somebody already messed around with them so I pulled them out(fuel was leaking from one) and blew them clean with air(prolly not supposed to do that either) and put them back in tight. I cranked it, cranked it and cranked it...won't start. Cracked open a beer, took a break and loosened the lines on top of the injectors to purge any air out and snugged them back up. Cranked it again and it runs, it runs good with no smoke and has great response on the throttle. BINGO! I then did the snoopy dance!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
