Hello everyone,

I have come here seeking help with my cub cadet 106 and hopefully have the chance to share some of my experiences with it. My dad bought this garden tractor back in the early 90's and we used it to mow the yard and tow a garden cart. Over the years I tired several times to plow the driveway with it but it never went as well as I wished it would. I'm guessing it would have worked much better with chains.

I just moved to a new house and I thought it would be a great idea to get this tractor back to work in my much bigger yard. It has sat for the last 15 years in my dads garage unused. We dragged it out this week and moved it to my garage. Its old and has a few problems but I looking forward to getting it working again.

Welcome to OCC!
Thats a neat tractor with a history. I like using mine to clear snow. Chains and weight make a world of difference for traction.

I have a set of wheel weights with the tractor and the neighbor just gave me a set of chains he used on an old wheelhorse. I may even try some liquid ballast in the tires.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
