Default Generator carburetor repair.

Ok this carburetor is kicking my butt. I've had this thing apart 3 or 4 times now. First time apart I just dropped the bowl and cleaned out just a little dirt. Second time pulled the carb and found a jet clogged sprayed everything off. Could get to start but run on choke only. Third time found another jet clogged ran a very small bit through it and still runs on choke only. I always run the carb dry when I'm done with it. If somebody could give me a hint what to look for.

Clay it sounds like you need to soak it for a day or two in carb cleaner to loosen everything up then clean thoroughly, change all fuel, and filter, clean out tank. Sometimes the bowl fastener bolt has passages in the sides of it that lead to the center as it is part of the main jet circuit. Do you have access to compressed air? Look closely and clean clean clean

What he said. Also, fuel line can disintegrate from the inside out if used with ethanol gas. Changing all rubber fuel lines for new can solve that.

I moved this to the B&S engine section. Numbers off the engine would help so we can look up what you have. Carb may be better off being replaced if it's cheap enough. Off the top of my head I'd start with a good soak and cleaning every passage and jet.

How does the gas can look? I found a while back that my gas can was transferring junk into my small engines.

Did a little digging based on your pic. Pretty sure this will be helpful.

Thank you very much Sam Mac and others for your responses. I watched a couple of the videos hoping to see some secret and they have done what I did. I've got the carb soaking for the night also I will get a new fuel line. I did add a in-line fuel filter when I started this ordeal and also have new fuel. Anyone have a idea where the opening goes that I'm pointing at? It is drilled from the direction the straw is laying. I can get solvent and air threw every thing but that one. I can not see what it would go to. I wouldn't think they'd drill and plug a dead end.

It may be plugged. It's called cross drilling. Very common on carbs. They have to get a passage from one place to another, so they drill the hole all the way through and drive a steel ball into the hole where they drilled to cap off the hole. It may indeed go nowhere.

I agree with Jmech and could have also been a passage for an optional primer bulb. B&S more than likely used that same carb on various models.

Well if what you've done doesn't fix it I'd replace it. These guys are selling a new one for under $40.00

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
