Default Tricycle front end???

Has anyone built a tricycle front end ? Where are the potential problems with making one. What all do I need to build one? What is the best tractor, narrow or wide frame?

Lots of people have made them, one of the potential problems is that the tractor is easier to tip over.

I've seen a few, even one that was converted to steel wheels. I personally don't like the looks of them to much, they are so low to the ground and narrow at the rear that they just don't look too much like a farm tractor to me. if I were going to do one it would be a narrow frame.

Search tricycle Cub Cadet and you should get some good results, I did. There are a few out there that are really nice looking, but they are more than just a tricycle front end, a lot more customizing was done.

When you google that you will get one that was made out an original.
The guy put taller Ag tires on back and it looks pretty good

one more thing to add is that once you do the narrow front you wont be able to use the tractor to mow or plow.

I did one on a 125. It works great for sweeping the lawn or thatching cause you can get in all the tight places. But as was mentioned, THEY DO TIP PRETTY EASY...
I've got a thread, "Bought a 125 today" it's in the second page down toward the bottom. I do not know how to link you to it, sorry.

I'm wondering is the stability issue just from the rear wheels being too narrow? We've had tricycle tractors on our farm for years with no problems. Currently have a 4020 Deere and a Farmall M set on 76" centers on rear. I need to measure the distance from the front to back axle and get a ratio and compare that to a Cadet.

Width is probably an issue but I think that could be overcome with weight, the heavier you could make the rear tires the more stable it would be. I think loaded tires with some weights would cure the issue.

The front is what wants to tip. There is NO stability what so ever without the wide front.
If you remember the wife tipped it over this past spring with the sweeper on it. And it wasn't that much of a side slope at all. If you wanted to it can be tipped over by just grabbing it from the front and pulling on the steering wheel.
Here's what happened in the shop just having it lifted like I normally do. Leaned against it and over it went...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
