You will need the ball bushings on both ends. Hopefully you can save the rear splined coupling. Post some pics up when you get the driveshaft out.

Here is what the front ball/bushing looks like. These are pretty cheap if you buy them direct. Put a post in the "wanted" section. You need to press out both of yours first to see if there is any other damage and if there is not, press in the new ones.(You can use a hammer and socket to remove and install them)
Attachment 94192

Here is the seal you will need. National 47146
Attachment 94193

I would also bet that driveshaft is worn and shot on both ends. I would contact "Jeff in PA" to see if he can make you a new one (he can) and also get rid of the pos disconnect clutch. You can save the coupling on one end of the shaft but he will need to make you a new one for the other end if you ditch the disconnect clutch. If you go this route, get the drive shaft made last. You will need to fit everything up and get a measurement for the shaft.

Replace the rag joints and fasteners associated with them.

Others have converted over to the CV style (better design) but I run the original rag joint design in all mine so far.

I'll start tearing into it tomorrow and I'll be posting pics as I go thanks for the help!

I'm betting the pump shaft is gone. As bad as it's been shaking, and the fact it's leaking..... probably time for a new (used) hydro.

I suspect that also, but didn't want to give him the bad news all at once.
I fear the spline is shot also
But sometimes one gets lucky.

This is the splined shaft from there charge pump. I had some play in the bushing and bearing. There's some marks on the housing on the inside but I feel this has been apart before and these are old marks.

The flywheel flange bearing. Looks like the main cause of the failure. Hopefully I can find a replacement part for this...

The driveshaft also looks like it'll need replaced/rebuilt.

Your pump shaft is junk. Do your self a favor find a good used pump for a Cyclops Super with the pump adapter and a complete drive shaft for an 1863 or 1864 with the fan then have Jeff in PA make you a Kubota drive shaft adapter and you will be Happy. Happy, Happy.

Cyclops Supers
1782
1882
2086
2082
2182
2084
2284

You can use a pre Cyclops pump but you'll need to drill and tap the shaft for the pump adapter retaining bolt.

Agreed. That pump is done. Ran way too long with a bad driveshaft.

What kind of changes can I expect from this swap? Will I still be able to run a rear pto? Is it the same but beefier? How much modding will be needed to install?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
