Default Tractor poker run

Today I went on an antique/vintage tractor poker run.
We had 211 tractors in attendance, it was a 30 mile ride with 4 stops, 2 of which provided a wonderful lunch and dinner. it was an 8 hour ride including stops.
Many local business made donations for prizes as well as us farm folk.
It netted $13,700 for the Disabled American Veterans.
Thank you for your service, and all who volunteered to help make it happen,
in and around Tecumseh/Britton Michigan area.
And of course the local police agencies for their traffic control.
Even the weather cooperated, till the event was over, only a a light rain fell on the drive home.
It was heart warming to see so many waving people and many holding signs saying "Thank you Farmers".

We took 3 tractors,
a 1956 JD "70" Diesel, which, I drove,
1959 JD "730" Diesel and a 1964 Farmall 806 Gas.(My avatar tractor)
My Twin sons drove those tractors.
As far as fuel usage, driving in high gear at less than max rpms with no load, they just sipped fuel.
Those 2 Cyl Deere Diesels were/are the most fuel efficient tractor in the day, and still are, so the fuel gauges barely moved.
The Farmall 806 fuel usage was minor as well.
If I can find some drone pix others were taking I'll post them.

All manufactures of tractors were represented, as were a lot of us "old Farts" there, representing the generations that farmed and actually used them.
One friend of mine is 88 yrs old and had fun as well as the younger
Grand children who now farm.

The "70" I drove, I've had for 42 years, a lot of memories were brought back.
Previous to yesterday,it has just sat in the barn collecting dust near 20 years.
Even the the smell of the burnt fuel out of the stack triggered memories of cultivating corn or picking it in the fall with a "101" mounted corn picker, and my sons in the gravity wagon catching ears as they dropped out of the elevator, as young boys do.
I'm sure a large numbers of "elders" remembered the years past,
And the younger ones will remember the times spent with Gr pa and Gr ma. on the tractor poker run after we are just a memory.

Yes it was a great day, and going through town, so many people enjoyed it.
Everyone likes a "parade" and I could read their faces or head nods of the older ones as we sparked memories.

Yesterday was the 4th year of the poker run, it was a first for me.
Something like yesterday, makes one forget all the trouble in the world, if just for a day.

Drone shots
For you Farmall fans, my 806 is in the 2nd photo, nearest the right front fender of the pickup truck going by on the highway.
This was the first stop for lunch.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
