CADplans, that looks like the deck I'm talking about, and thanks for the pictures of the blades.

Sam Mac, those are some wicked looking blades.

I read another post about 46 gt decks clogging up. I have 3 in all, and never has deck clog up, I have had the grass come out in clumps when wet, and very thick and tall... I have had much more trouble with the older decks like like the c style not cutting a clean cut, and leaving streaks etc...

Clint, what type of blades are you running? I don't mow when its wet just because I know it'll plug up.

My dad has a 782 with the same deck and he has the same problem. We are both running the same blades.

Reading through these posts I'm getting some mixed feedback, some say it works great and others say it's junk.

To clarify what I said about 46" decks, I used the standard CC blade, whatever that was. They were all the same on all the decks. They all cut the same. They'd windrow dry grass and when mowing wet grass, they would occasionally throw out clumps of wet grass. Never clogged up to my recollection.

They worked well with the bagger system too.

they made the 46 in deck to run on the 4in and 6in pto pulleys if you have a deck that was setup to run a 6in pulley and you have a 4in it wont cut nice ever these newer decks like speed now you did not hear this from me but its been done run a 6in pulley for decks that were used to a 4in pto pulley I can tell you they throw the grass out

I did it by accident.

I took a 46" deck off an 1810 tractor and put it on a 1641. The 1810 uses the small pto, the 1641, the large one. Didn't think about the pto size difference until I put the belt on and I just about ran out of belt. The deck was geared up so high, I had to give it about half throttle to engage the mower deck or it'd stall the engine. Once it started turning, it'd make that deck really hum and yes, it would sling the grass further but I never noticed the overall cut was any better/worse.

The reverse of the above happened to me when I put a 54" deck from an 1863/4 on my 1862. The former had the large pto, the latter, the small one. The deck would cut some of the grass and just knock down the rest. Of course, the right size pto pulley fixed that problem.

I did the same thing, when I got this deck it had the wrong pulley for my PTO and it screamed. Sounded cool but I figured the bearings would live a very short life so I put the correct one back on.

I'm running the original cub cadet blades that came with mower. I didn't think about the black plastic grass deflector.. My son has mows with a 1440 he has to tie the black plastic deflector up some when grass is wet or tall

Default 1811 with 46GT

I am wondering if by chance has anyone else found different blades to use to stop the windrow or clippings for this deck? Anyone find gator blades that may fit or another hi lift blade?

Heres the deal, the tunnel on the deck mentioned is alot larger than that of most decks. That is for one reason... bagger. If you dont use high lift blades it screws with airflow. In short, it wont work... correctly... because the design has been altered by not using the correct blades. On mine, if i take the black deflector off it might windrow the grass... on the other side of town!

My deck came from an 1811, n i use it on my 1864... that thing SCREAMS used it regularly for the last 13 years or so, no bearing issues. Hope this helps

Anyone ever successfully use one on a 1450?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
