This is what $22 got me today.
I just recently purchased my 127, got it running, found a snowthrower for it, and got it (almost) all set up for winter. I had to make a lift handle bracket for it, which i just shot with some primer. I plan on hopefully repainting the tractor next summer. And please don’t mind my lift ‘cable’ it is temporary because the lift rod that came with the snow thrower was way too short. I am going to attempt to make one tomorrow. I’m sure this has been done, but I wanted to give it a try.
I picked up a mighty lift hood strut part number D95795 from a parts store. It has a lift rating of 201 lbs. All I needed to do was run the stud through my makeshift lift bracket, and one of the holes already in the frame, and fasten a nut to the back side. I did have to compress the strut with a ratchet strap first. Once installed, the snowthrower lifts amazingly smooth and easy. I’m sure you could run it on the inside somewhere, out of sight. We shall see how it holds up this winter. It does come with a 1 year warranty, some of the other models have a limited lifetime warranty. |

QA-42A - 42 inch, I’m not sure of the weight. It was plenty heavy with no assist.

Check your warranty on that strut. If it is rated for 201 lbs. you might be disappointed when you are sitting at the end of your driveway in a snow storm with a snow thrower that won't lift off the ground. EDIT: I suppose you could always disconnect the strut and Armstrong lift it up to get it back into the garage. Simon Bletzer

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
