Question Engine kills when disengage brake,

I have a zero turn mower, CC 17AF3AGV010, Z-force 48. The mower starts but when I disengage the brake, it kills. I have replaced 4 brake switches, and each time it fixes the problem. I mow, then let the mower sit for a week or so, then this happens again. I have tested the seat switch for continuity (male) and it is good. I have cleaned out the connector (female) with electric cleaner, and cannot find any wire breaks. The little micro switch in the seat connector (female) seems to be moving freely. I am perplexed, does anyone have any help? Thanks. (I am new to this forum, first post. If I need to post this on a different page, let me know)

Here is the wiring diagram if you don't already have it.

Looks like the seat and brake switch are the only 2 things that will kill the engine. If it runs fine until you release the brake then it sounds like the seat switch is your issue. Time to break out the meter and do a little testing. Let us know what you find out.

thank you. The seat switch has continuity when pressed, so I think that means it is good? Could it be that the connector to the brake switch on the harness is bad? Am I able to get just that connector?

Thank you for responding. I discovered the issue to be in the seat switch. When I checked it, there was continuity, so I assumed it was working properly. I installed a new brake switch, mower worked. Sat overnight, did not work in the morning. I put in a new seat switch, worked. 10 minutes later, did not work. The problem is the little micro-switch in the seat switch connector, it does not get pushed down far enough sometimes, even with a new switch. as long as I reconnect the seat switch, it works. I am wondering if I can get that seat switch connector (on the harness) without having to purchase the entire harness.

If I understand your issue, can you just cut the plug out and use butt connectors or spade connectors if its on the switch?

Thanks. No, I can't. The plug has a microswitch built in, so I can't just 'hot wire' it. I will need the plug. So far, I have not been able to find it alone, without buying the entire harness

If you are a light weight you may want to add weight to the seat, bouncing around may trigger the seat switch to act that way you describe...

This info is from the model number you provided. The seat switch is still available form Cub Cadet.

I resolved this problem by separating the harness connector between the rear of the tractor and entering the engine. On my 2018 TR2 LX46 EFI this is located near the oil dipstick & oil filter. I blew the debris from the connector, sprayed DeOxit contact cleaner to the terminals and reassembled the connector. Problem fixed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
