Put the wire wheel to the underside of the deck then a good soaking with rust neutralizer and a healthy dose of converter. Primed with rust encapsulater and top coated with 2K chassis black gloss.

Electrical issue is back
So my little diesel was running great after the restoration however, I went to start it up Saturday and it blew the 30 amp fuse when I switch it the the start mode of the key switch. I have tried to look for the obvious short but no luck. I have replaced all of the safety switches, new key switch, starter upgrade and new PTO switch during the restoration. It cranked and ran great 2 hours earlier that day. It has me scratching my head. Any help would be great. Is anyone out there restoring the cyclops wiring harnesses?

I had the same problem with my 782D, when I would engage the PTO to the start position, the ammeter would get pegged on discharge and the circuit breaker would pop open. What I did and found on mine was I disconnected the connector going to the PTO clutch field coil, then checked it for continuity/short to ground. If you look in the schematics, one side of the field coil goes to +12V, the other line is connected to ground. One of the wires from the clutch coil was grounded, the other side showed normal file resistance. I ordered a new PTO and that fixed it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
