Here is a link to a Wikipedia article on plastic welding. It explains the different methods available. You might also check to see if a manual for your unit. Big thing is using the proper plastic rod to match the type of plastic you are trying to weld.
Good luck with your repair. Tom https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic_welding |

I've also seen people use something called Plast-aid to repair the cyclops plastic. I used some myself and think it's amazing stuff. Kind of spendy but seems superior to epoxy. You could fix that bracket up nicely.
It's a two part system. When you mix the two parts, it starts out runny, then gradually gets thicker. Sets up rock hard in about 10 minutes. My only concern is that it could be brittle, but I have no negative experience to back that up, just observations of the stuff after its cured. |

Pictures after plastic weld complete. I will add JB weld for extra strength and touch up with some bondo.

The repair looks pretty good. I would not have an issue using the grill after it is finished. You can save the NOS one for down the road if this one fails again. Good luck in getting it to run again.

Grill is done
Here is the competed grill restoration. I used insulators tape for the reflective aluminum in the light area. I think it turned out pretty good and it feel strong.

Very nicely done! Plastic is a pain in the ass, tedious to work with, etc. But that looks like a fine job there. Nice going!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
