Talking IH Cub Cadet 102

Hello

I live in New York State in Penn Yan but my family has a cabin in Filmore NY. We have a International Harvester 102 from 1967 I believe and I have been working on it ever Friday evening and every Saturday at the cabin since about August 10th of this year.

So far all me know is the tractor engine is working OK just the carburetor won’t supply fuel to the engine. Also I forgot to say the tractor has been sitting for 10 - 14 years so we are trying to get it running again. We have changed all the fluids and and are now getting new gaskets for the carburetor. Also might I add that the tractor did have a snow thrower that my grandparents are going to get rid of and set of the curb of their house in Syracuse New York.

I have enjoyed working on the tractor and hope I can get it running again so my grandparents don’t have to buy something new for the cabin. I really like the tractor. So that’s about it for what I have to say.

First off welcome to OCC!.

after so long sitting I would suggest removing all fuel related items and cleaning thoroughly. Tank, carb, new lines, clean fuel bowl etc.

Here to help along the way! Good luck

You will likely need to disassemble the carb and clean internally. I usually soak mine for a couple days in diesel fuel and acetone mix. If you have never cleaned a carb there are very affordable after market carbs readily available for around 25$

And I have never cleaned a carb before but I got similar advice from my friends who works on small to medium gas engines a lot. Also I just posted 3 pictures in album I will get more when my grandparents post things of me working on the tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
