Thanks guys! Started assembly today. First real challenge - trying to line up the hole in the axle pin assembly.

I should have taken more pictures and a done better job of segregating hardware - but I tell myself those things after I start reassembly of just about everything I take apart. Oh well.

Does anyone have an opinion on using a Drive Shaft Coupling Chrome Ball on a 149? I got the idea I needed one, so I bought one. Now I believe they started with the QL. Seems like it couldn't hurt, but maybe it could? thanks

You have a spare for when you get a QL.

The end of the driveshaft that goes to the rear end / pump coupler is 3/8". The pump coupler has a hole to accept that 3/8" diameter.

The QL ball is 5/8"

Jeff

The 149 is looking great

Thanks and Thanks Jeff. I'm learning on a lot on this. I guess I have a real nice steely if I can find someone to play marbles with too.

You can use Ql pump drive coupling on the tractor but will need mating half to fit will have to redrill the pin hole and maybe shorten the driveshaft.I just did this on my 169 with nf steel fan and QL rear connectors with solid pin on engine.

I'm running a complete driveline assembly from a Quiet Line IN Cub Cadet in my IH 149 Cub Cadet. It was a bolt in for me.

I have been out of town so I couldn't do any work for a while. Today I was able to jump on it though. For now I'll keep the stock drive line, but thanks for the ideas. I got the new fluid in the rear end, wired everything and got it running. It started fine, ran okay and the hydraulics appeared to work without leaks. I will continue assembly tomorrow and hope to have it ready to really test soon. Thanks for the encouragement and kind words.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
