Questions on 1811 and 1872
Are the side panels interchangeable, the same on both of these?
Will 26X12X12 rear tires and wheels fit on the 1811? |

Side panels are the same. Don’t know for sure on the wheels, but I suspect they won’t work without lifting the fenders. Haven’t tried it.

Thanks for the fast reply. Is the engine and hydro the same on both?

Engine is, hydro is not. What is your plan to do?
Edit: The 1872 is the better of the 2 if you are making one out of the 2 tractors.

Engine is. Hydro on the 1872 is the same unit, but has a splined input shaft. The driveshaft is obviously longer. They are mostly interchangable depending on what you are trying to do.

Looking at this 1811 as a parts doner for my 1872's

I should have said CONSIDERING the 1811 as a doner. Likely it will be a sight unseen purchase, pickup later.

What is wrong with 1872?

Engine is a no brainer. You could make the hydro unit work, though it’s not ideal.

I think the output gear is different as well.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
