Alright folks, I don't understand why everyone gives this kid so much shit. He is working on tractors and seems to enjoy it. This hobby is going to die with the older generation if you all keep running the young guys off. Who gives a rats ass what YOU think his work area looks like? Or what YOU think is the quickest way to do it? This is his thread and he is obviously proud of it. He is posting pics as he goes, so maybe there has not been much progress since his last post. You ALL want "pics pics pics", well he is giving them to you as he goes through the steps of his work so maybe there won't be much progress from one pic to the next. I think we have all seen this kid go a long way with what he is doing. Cut him some slack. If you want to complain about his work/progress/tidiness, then do it somewhere else. Get off his thread with your negativity.

And by the way Mudrig, good work. Keep us posted. Ignore the boos. They usually come from the cheap seats anyway.

I think he's enjoying what he's doing and having fun. That's all that really matters in the end. It's not like he's doing a heritage restoration on some 500 series serial # original. I enjoy following along. And I'm glad to see someone under the age of 40 interested in them.

There's a lot of folks on here that have a lot of hours wrenching on these things that have some good advice though. I take some and leave some, but always appreciate folks chiming in.

I'm totally guilty of having a super messy workspace too. It's therapeutic to clean it all up every once in a while, but in the middle of a project stuff ends up everywhere.

Anyway, mudrig, you do you. Keep posting. Your threads are always good entertainment on a variety of levels!

I just turned 40 and I’ve been at this a couple years, that counts right?

My work area always becomes tools and parts laying everywhere.

Nice. I hit 40 this year and have been at this a year and a half or so myself. I generally feel like one of the "kids" around here

Welp, got the transmission in the 1250, took a while but got it in. Had to take the brakes off to take the front brackets off. Sadly, I have to pull it back out to put the trunion springs. Also pulled the head off the motor, and by God it was filthy in the inside. The relief valves in the transmissions were destroyed, and also stuck down. I think the tape is to keep the fluid from bypassing the destroyed ball inside the valve.

Welp, might be trading the 1250 for a nicer one. I'm keeping the hydraulic lift, IH logo, and seat. He says he'll wait for it to get back together.

Uh, I just realized...

The 1250's transmission is sitting oustide.
With no valves.
In the rain.

Welp, I'n not looking forward to taking everything I took off the 1250 back on and taking everything I put on, off.
And then after that, putting everything off on another 1250.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
