Default Oil leaking out of fuel pump

I have a LT1018 with a Briggs 18hp motor. Oil is coming out of the screen on the fuel pump. More so in high throttle than low. Any ideas?

The fuel pump works off of "crankcase differential pressure". I'll explain if need be.... But it could either be that the fuel pump has a gasket or other internal seal failing, or it could be your crankcase vent tube that runs to the carburetor. I'd probably check the vent tube first. Make sure it is intact, with no holes in it or that it isn't kinked. If its fine, prob should just get another fuel pump.

The tube is intact and not kinked.

I have read from other sites anywhere from head gasket to the fuel pump could be the cause or the breather or breather tube. Anyone else run into this issue?

Okay well I went ahead and tore apart the whole thing, on order valve cover gasket and head gasket. Hoping that's the fix. Any suggestions if I should clean off the piston head? If so with what?

Well, IMO, you went a little far..... I really think if you don't have a vent tube problem, then it's probably in the fuel pump.... But, ok. Yes, you can clean the top of the piston off. Carb cleaner, brake cleaner, mineral spirits, .... any of these and a brass wire brush would be fine. Make sure to do it with the piston at the top of its stroke. When its clean, blow out the gap between the piston and cylinder wall with an air compressor. Then roll the piston down, wipe the cylinder walls clean.

Side note does anyone have specs on head bolts and rocker cover bolts for how much to torque them down?

I'm glad you got it fixed. If that was the problem, I'll have to remember that! Just curious though.... You said the problem was fixed, but later asked what to torque the head and valve cover bolts to? .... Did you run it without torquing them?.... Or have you run it yet?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
