Default Exhaust valve freeplay on K-301

How much side freeplay is acceptable on a K-301 exhaust valve? How do you measure? Does the exhaust need more clearance? What harm does it cause if its too tight? too loose? Help me understand, The valve seems new, how do you remove the guide, if I need to go that route? How to install a new guide? I'm not quite sure what the last guy did. I don't want to skimp, I'm not sure about him tho. Thanks guys for all the reply's.

I believe there is a kohler engine manual in the tech section on the site here that will give you the acceptable clearances ,you need a hole gauge to measure the ID of the guide and outside mic to check the valve stem, I personally never replaced a guide and would think that would need done at a shop too much clearance is not good and not enough will cause things to bind up !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
