Cub 100 engine
Hello guys,
This is a fresh rebuild on a k241. Do you guys think it will work on my cub 100? I know the muffler will need changed as well as the carb choke arm. Thanks Mark |

Looks correct but not sure if that eye bolt is a correct fastener for the head.

Lol. I think he is an older guy, I assume it’s just for lifting. Thanks for your reply.

If you wind up with that engine, as soon as the need for the eyebolt is past, be sure to remove it and replace it with a good grade 8 bolt torqued to specks. FWIW: I always question "it is all been rebuilt" as to so many, it means a spray can overhaul. ---Or a quick set of rings in a badly worn bore, and a crank pin out of round and tapered. Some consider a "rebuild" as fixing it so it runs ok,kinda sorta, mostly. I also question a hardware store eyebolt made for a clothes line, installed by a "rebuilder" Warning Will Robinson, Warning! -----Just saying, and don't "ASSUME" anything. |

Not sure about the guy's rebuilding skills, but his painting looks good.

You’ll also need to swap out the 3 head bolts closest to the flywheel for longer bolts with spacers to mount the gas tank bracket.

The prone to cracking tank bracket mounts w/1/4" bolts via the engine tins.

They're not talking about the head, they mean the tank mount.

Well, apparently my 100 has a later model tank bracket on it since mine uses the 3 head bolts and 2 flywheel tin bolts.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
