Default Wix Hydraulic Filter

I was using the Wix Filter Lookup to find the correct hydro filter for my 682. It shows 51084 but I'm not sure that is right because it has an anti drain back valve. Can anyone confirm if this is the correct filter?

Wix 51410 is the correct number. The 51084 is an engine oil filter. My grandfather put one on the 1811, who knows how long it was on there! No ill effects were caused. I replaced it after the driveshaft rubbed a hole in it

The 51410 will work on all Cubs but was designed for the HG hydro's in the cyclops line, 2k &3k machines. The 51084 has the anti-drainback valve and works well on the older machines with the Sunstrand pumps but not on the newer machines with the HG pumps. The 51084 will keep the pump full of oil so on the next start up it doesn't start dry.

Good to know, thanks!

I assume the new MTD filters have no anti-drainback valve. Do they have one for the older IH tractors or does it really not matter?
The Wix 51084 has a nut on the end like the original IH filters.

I respectfully disagree.

The 51410 is the correct Hydro Filter for the Sundstrand Hydro. It meets or exceeds Sundstrands and Cub Cadets specifications. About 4 years ago, a couple of us did an extensive search, bought and cut open several filters. The ones in the above chart are the only ones that met ALL the specifications.

However, it is your tractor and you can install whatever you want.

I can back up what Roland says. I cut open all of my filters. I double checked the Wix site, a 51084 is listed as a lube/ trans filter, while the correct 51410 is a hydraulic filter. And they are quality filters, perhaps better than the Cub filter I just took off of my 1864.

I use NAPA 1410's on all of my Cubs Wix # is 51410, wix makes the filters for NAPA just remove the first digit # 5 for the NAPA number.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
