From SW Virginia
I am new to OCC. I have two cubs - a Model 100 that my Dad bought used in 1976 (it is a '63 model, I think) and a Model 124 that I bought this year and has been my project between Memorial Day and Labor Day. I bought the 124 for parts for the Model 100, since the 124 was really in bad shape. And only $100. When I got it home, I said what the heck, and decided to start it. With some gas and a full choke, it started right up! Got on and drove it around the yard! Decided right then I would fix it up. Rented a sandblaster and went to work. After about 8 cans of paint, $300.00, and three months of work, it turned out nice for a working tractor. Stuck on a 42 deck that I had bought 3 years ago for parts, and now I have a lawn mower!
Had to do a lot of work to it, but I really enjoy using it. Plus it will give the Model 100 a well-deserved rest. Next summer, the 100 will get to go to the beauty parlor!

I'll try to post pics. I'll get the camera to reduce the size.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
