sand blaster
I picked this little fella up for 10.00 at the box store.Belive it or not it works ok.I went down to the local river (its the mojave river,and dry as a bone for the greater part of the year!!)and picked up a bucket of sand and used it for a short time.I need a new compressor!!!!
I figured for ten bucks why not.I just shove the pick up tube into the bucket and away I go!!!

I have one of those too, but have never tried it. I have heard that the sand MUST be dry and fine. You are lucky you can get it for free.
I have yet to find any sand that I thought was dry enough. How well did it work? Got any pics?

Looks like the sand blaster was working nice  Thats amazing you can just go dig up sand thats dry enough to use. I have to buy regular sand blast sand at the lumber yard. I tried to dry some myself one time, never could get it dry enough to work right.

here is my sand blast media !! it usaly blows across the street and the city is out cleaning it up.Just up over the hill is a river bottom,its the mojave river.Usless trivia,the mojave river is one of only two rivers in the world that run and end away from the ocean Jason

Just for the heck of it Ill give you another,LOL
This is on top of the mountain just outside a city called Big Bear elevation 6800,I went up there today to pick op the plow and disk/disc? I met the guy up there ,hes a ritchie that lives in orange county,California, very nice guy! This is looking down into the desert where I live if I drive across the mountain and took the same picture looking south all you would see is smog!!  Notice all the trash,I guess everyone gets out to check out the beautiful view and throws there trash out!! what a shame huh.The picture really doesnt do the scene justice but its a great view. All that great sand and I still have to sift it to keep junk from getting sucked up.My neighbor has it down to a science he bought a bunch of strainers and gave me a couple!I dont know much at all about sand blasting,like the different medias,but did go out and buy a resperator,face shield and ear plugs!! Thanks Jason

WOW! what a view. That really is a nice picture. Thanks.
Sounds like you got all the right equipment. I used a sandblaster like you have. You will really be glad you have the face shield. and ear plugs. The resporator will help a lot to.

I buy fine play sand at Home Depot and use a large tarp to catch 80% of it and reuse it. Resparator is a must as silica poisoning is deadly.
