Buttoned up a few things today. Couldn't for the life of me get the return spring hooked up. Every time I would get close, I couldn't hang on, then start over...
So, I used some "Yankee" ingenuity. Ran a ratchet strap under the door, and hooked the other end to the wire I had on the spring, and ratcheted it. Now that's using the ol' noodle.
Picked up some parts yesterday from my CC Dealer, and he gives my this cool Kohler sign, and this blade and belt poster.

Todd!!

You really wanted that spring hooked up didn't you!? I admire the "engineering" that went into that! Around here in GA we call that redneck engineering! But hey... it works!!

Cool sign and poster... We had that same Kohler sign in the small engine shop I worked at in the 80's

Gotsta do, what you gotsta do.
Yeah, my dealer is a good one, one of the few. He told me Kohler made him buy a new sign, so he gave me the old one. Pretty nice.

Yeah, told him whenever you got "something" you no longer need/want, call me cause I'll likely take it off your hands.

Back on the 1811 today. Got the rear all bundled up with new off brand "hydraulic fluid", and no leaks. Well I ran it for around 15 minuets, moving the go lever and lift back and forth, and everything is dry.
Then moved onto the front, and removed the engine and a couple tins to get a loo inside. You can see what I found so far...

Yep, that's about the way mine looked. You gonna pull the flywheel and clean it up, maybe even change the seal? You know Lowes, has Rust Oleum engine enamel for $5 a can.

Yeah John, removing the flywheel and stater to clean, and likely replace the seal, cause the oil was coming from somewhere.
What, you suggesting the engine needs paint?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
