IACubCadet,
Glad the 800 is progressing. After looking at the tractor that you did that was all rusty, I am sure The 800 will get its deserved attention too.
I will be watching for one of the 800's tucked away somewhere For now the new 86 takes up the slack in my Cub line up.
AJ,
The guy with all the 800's sounds like the guy from PA that was beside me at the Stoneboro fair IH show last summer. He had a bunch of 800's all very nice!
Regards,
Chris

I had to repair the lift handle on one of my 108s. The lift button broke off down inside the handle. After some time trying to figure out how to get it out, I wound up using an easy out screw extractor and unscrewed the remainder of the button from the shaft inside. Then, get a new lift button and release button. The new lift button screws on the locking shaft inside the handle, and the release button just presses in the front of the handle.

Wow, thank you for the detailed pictures and the description! I am heading out to the garage now to give it a try. I will try to keep everyone updated.

I heard about that the other day in another thread. I really dont care if mine has all the specifics. It would be nice...but, I saved this 800 from a total pile of junk to what it is now, so if I ever did sell it I would hope the new owner would appreciate that more than it having the correct starter and air cleaner

Chris,

thank you for the comments. This 800 was not nearly as bad as the 70 that you mentioned, but it has been quite a project. I am so happy that it runs so good after making one motor out of two. I was driving it around last night and just can't believe that it all came together like it did. I guess the trade for a 128 with rear pto is paying off!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
