I've never seen that tunnel around a hydro fan either. Is it a plastic tube?

Like Duke mentioned. This is a steel fan housing/ guard for the hydro fan on the 147. It bolts to the underside of the tunnel with four pan head screws. Only goes on one way and is offset to one side of the tunnel. I have several shots at various places during the restoration. Blasting would have been the easiest way to clean this piece. I choose to use aircraft remover and lots of hand work.
I put a lot of effort into trying to clean all the parts best I could, and not get too carried away. I plan to take this tractor out and mow with it next season. Regards, Chris

Couldn't find any one with a tap and die set of 3/4-16 thd for chasing the spindle threads. So I stopped at Sears on the way home and splurged on myself and bought a set of tap and dies that go up to that size.
Hauled three more loads of wood tonight to the house with the 86 and wagon. I have to get some pictures posted for you guys on that subject. Anyway I did chase the threads on the spindles for the deck. The seals will be in on Thursday from Kaman. Also traced all the wiring for the 147R and will try to spruce up/ repair and use a set of wires that were on it. Most are in pretty good shape. Haven't heard from the engine machine shop yet. May give him a call tomorrow. Regards, Chris

I (we) picked up the engine block turned crank, reground intake valve and the piston and crank bearings from the shop machine shop today. The (we) part is that my Grandson Mike did the driving for me all day he just got his permit this year and he handles the big F250 real well!
The cost of the machining was $85 total I thought that was reasonable. Brought the block home and scrubbed it with very hot soapy water to remove all the machining fluid and residue. Dried and set aside. Will start the cleaning and re assembly this week. While waiting for things to settle down I did find some information on the deck spindles and found I was missing the split ring (cone) spacer in between the two inner races. Approx .225 inch thick. I found one on the bench and made another from a inner race of a old bearing. Here are some shots from a few days ago when I assembled the new bearings and seals. Yea I got a little carried away with the red paint they were supposed to be off white like the deck. Well I guess this deck will have red spindles![]() Yes I did have a gray helper, She wanted some attention too! Her name is Gracie. Also looked a a very well used 125 today, with deck and snow blower. Any thoughts on a 125 unit? I need another like a hole in the head. PO has let this one slide and it needs touched all over tires are all flat, and looks like real rough where it sets . He did some engine work then said it over reved he shut it down and never got back to it???? It is setting inside a building with a dirt floor. Could be that diamond in the rough: or just rough![]() Regards, Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
