The mule drive for my 782 needed some help both mechanically and ascetically.
Stripped 39yrs of gunk and old paint off then primed and painted. Since I don't have a compressor I used rattle cans. I thought I had made a horrible mistake after I began painting. I used the color charts from this site and ordered my paints from CCSpecialties. I started with the small parts first and that first bracket looked almost yellow rather than "white". I han't stripped all the hanger yet so I took some brake cleaner and cleaned off an area and I was shocked to find that the new paint and old were the same. To the purists I apologize for not keeping it all IH White but my tractor is red and I think the red pieces are tastefully done and this will once again bring some class to the neighborhood when I get everything back in use. The 44c deck is next to get refurbished. Maybe start later this week. My apologies for the sideways pic. No matter what I did it always turned on me.

I used the 123 with the mower deck today in relief for the much newer lawn tractor. The wife mowed about half the yard with the first string, but it tore up another belt for her, so I called to the bullpen and got old reliable out and finished the job.

I got the proverbial "hairy eyeball" from her when I drug it home, fixed it up and told her that it would be a great backup for the main mower.

It took a few years, but I guess I showed her.

Do you think she will believe me when I bring another one home?

Default 782 resurrect

Made a mount for a new electronic fuel pump for the 782 instead of dealing with the mechanical one on the KT17.

The shut off screw on the fuel bowl of my 123 was leaking out the stem. Stem packing nut was TIGHT, so I didn't dare try to screw it in any tighter to adjust it for fear that something would break.

Tried to just buy a new fuel bowl - no go locally.
Bought some very small valve stem packing, but it was way too soft and gummed up the threads.

Had an idea. I got two of the smallest o-rings in my supply box and put them on the shaft of the shutoff stem. Put the stem back in the fuel bowl, gave them just a little bit of compression with the nut and put gas in the tank.

Success! It doesn't leak open or closed, and the valve stem turns easier than it ever did. Now time will tell whether the o-rings are as gasoline resistant as they say they are.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
