Plus that is the inside (side) of the tire that is left on the rim. Not even enough heat to melt it and that would have been the closet thing to the knuckle.
You where right on. All of the black on the spindle bolt was burnt plastic. It scraped right off. And there is a lot of paint left in that area. Good eye!!

I took the wire wheel to all the axle parts and got it painted last night. I got it installed today and working. I didn't see any areas that appeared overheated of damaged at all.
I had to turn the steering arm upside down to keep the cylinder lower since the frame mount for it is lower than on a super. It was at to much of an angle. I tried mounting the cylinder under the arm but that didn't work either.

The axle puts the wheels more forward and gives it a wider stance, I like it.

Go back a page and you can see the axle in it's full glory.
I drove it around yesterday and it ran great, none of the surging that I was showing you. I am hoping that was coming from low fuel level Oh well, that's another topic when I get that far. I'm going to work on shortening the steering column next. One project at a time.

Your cub is looking tough, Chip! Mind if I come up, and take it for a spin?

Chip, I missed those pics! Maybe the low fuel level had something to do with it.

Allen trust me when I say he keeps the gas near empty so you can't drive off with it! You need one of these as well all the options of a super but in shorter version.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
