It's a simple system so start with the steering wheel and see where the movement isn't when you begin to turn it. Start with the steering box and work towards the wheel.

The tie rod ends are consumable (these are about 40-50 yrs old now) and are easy to replace and available cheaply.

Isn't that what I said??

So it has been down into the negatives here in NY, and today I decided I want to start the tractor and blow some snow. Well I have a battery saver hooked up to the battery because it's been so cold and it rolls over fine. But when I pull the choke it starts to run, then it cuts out bringing everything to a stand still. It stops rolling over and what not. So I'm curious as to what my issue is. Ik the starter isn't as strong as it once was but... I don't want to take it off and rebuild the starter until the summer when I do the rest of the tractor. Is there anything else you guys could think of? Maybe it's just way to cold, only 4 degrees outside as of now.

Sounds like a combination of weak battery and cold temps.

Do you have jumper cables? If so, jump it from a car, start with choke and let it warm up as you roll back the choke...

Mine does that when it’s super cold out too. Needs a bigger battery. I hook up my battery starter to it and it’ll crank it over fast enough to get it going. I’m betting a magnetic block heater on the hydro case would go a long way to letting it spin faster without a new battery. Having to turn that hydro pump with cold thick hydro fluid is probably the cause more than the cold engine oil, especially since those K series engines are just splash lubricated.

Magnetic block heater would be a great idea, it has just been so cold here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
