By the time and money spent for the several parts, I think the one with switch, wires, gaskets, lights and panel is worth the price.... Looks like the fuse holder too.

If I understand correctly, headlights and other extras were all available as pre ordered ‘options’ on a new tractor. If you ordered headlight did that result in an automatic upgrade to the charging system?
The charging system will support headlights just fine. As a matter of fact, if the charging system is working well, it will support up to 6, with amps left to charge the battery and run the PTO.

Too much coin for me, I used $3 rubber truck tailight grommets and two #4411 bulbs, spent $20 or so for lights. Cut the holes with a jigsaw and sheetmetal blade. Snips might work better if yours has mesh, mine is a sheetmetal plate just a little thick for snips. Used a chrome plated brass boat headlight switch in the OE hole. Good enough for govt work, IMO.
Just an option if you are not a perfectionist.

Just want to note, Aaron at xtreme makes headlight panels for a lot of the tractors. Not OEM, but they have the holes cut. Makes it a little easier if you don't have a 5" hole saw.

The holes in mine to mount the rubber grommets are 4 1/2" diameter. I took a big truck tailight bracket and traced the holes with a Sharpie. The hole needs to be tight so they stay in place and don't turn crooked with use.

J-Mech, I appreciate you enlightening me on the abilities of the charging system, I am much encouraged!

(Hey kostendorf, thanks for the heads up on those deals on ebay.)

Well folks, as this idea began to unfold itself upon me last night, I did spend some time eyeing that original setup on ebay for $79.00, repainted grill and two new bulbs, just bolt it in, sounded pretty good to me. But, I actually had an idea just like what you did 64fleetside, so I held off, waiting till today so I could look around and see what I might be able to find ‘off the shelf’ that I could cobble together to make my own ‘custom’ setup.

So you all can see from the first picture what I found at my first stop at Tractor Supply, at that price, times 2, plus the governors cut I’d be starting out at about $40.00, and the second picture, bulb alone, same price! So on I went to my local Ace hardware. You can see from the third picture what I found there… yeah, nothing. Told me to go to Autozone, next town over. So, I only wasted an hour and a half.

OK, so I’m back home, Buy it Now!, yeah, it’s mine. Didn’t want the 40 year old wiring harness and switch anyway, I have something else in mind for that. Hey 64fleetside, can you post a picture of where you put that marine grade switch?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
